Roy loved his sister very much. She was the only one to visit him when he was in prison in Central City . After her suicide, he vowed to get vengeance for her. He targeted Lex Luthor as the source of his sister's misery. Roy believed that it was Lex who killed Amanda's fiancé Jude Royce. Whether or not he knew Jude cheated on his sister was never revealed, but he knows how much they loved each other. When he found a stranger who looked exactly like Jude, he embarked on a plan to ruin Lex's life. First they harassed Max Kasich, Lex's bodyguard on the night of Jude's death. He was a witness to the events, and they pestered him for the truth. Finally, they killed him and sent Lex his hand in a box. Next they poisoned Jonathan Kent's herd with chemicals stolen from LuthorCorp. Finally, they abducted Lex and tortured him at the former site of Club Zero. During this phase of the plan, Roy murdered the lookalike he had hired and threatened to kill Lex unless he tells him the truth. Lex told him his sister was the one who shot her fiancé. But Roy thinks he's lying again and became furious. He would have killed Lex if Clark hadn't shown up in the nick of time. Clark bashed Roy's head against the wall, rendering him unconscious. It is presumed that Roy was taken into custody.
